Our Story

Jordyn’s Soul Café is a premier soul food restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. Owner Angel McDonald opened up this business in honor of her late daughter, Jordyn. Angel has been working in the restaurant industry for many years and has always had a passion for cooking. The recipes she serves at Jordyn's Soul Café are close to her heart and have been passed down by her mother. Angel is dedicated to providing her customers with delicious food that is made from scratch daily, using only the freshest ingredients. She takes pride in providing customers with quality service and ensuring that all dishes served are prepared with care and love. Angel created a space that is second to none in its ambiance, and our food is beautifully presented with artistic attention to detail. We are committed to providing you with the best possible experience while dining with us!

Our goal at Jordyn’s Soul Café is to provide great food that makes people happy and to serve our customers with dignity, respect, and compassion while working hard to provide them with an experience they will never forget. Absolutely fire! We have been meaning to try this place and I'm glad we finally did! We will be back! We ordered Catfish & Grits, Chicken & Waffles, Collard Greens, Yam, and Mac n Cheese. Loved everything. Especially the Catfish and greens! But all of it was seriously so good!

Pot roast empanadas were excellent! The shell super light and crispy and the gravy dip perfect. Had the oxtail dinner with collards and mac n cheese as my two sides. Oxtails were so flavorful and tender they fell off the bone. The collards were well-balanced and also very tasty. The corn bread delish. Would have been a 5 stars had it not been for mac n cheese which was slightly under-seasoned and not as soul-full as the rest of the meal. Peach Cobbler had good flavor but was a bit too sweet for my preference. Server (Jaython) and Hostess were very attentive and pleasant! Overall great experience.
